04/17/2018 Special Event  7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Friends of Leesylvania Monthly Meeting
Location: Visitor Center
The Friends of Leesylvania State Park help the park serve visitors and protect the park’s natural resources. The group raises money and supports park programs such as the Junior Rangers, Free Kids Fishing Tournaments, and Haunted History Hikes. Friends also help guests and promote the park’s unique nature and history, as well as fishing, boating and more. Members have many interests and various backgrounds. There are several membership options. Feel free to email Friends of Leesylvania (friendsofleesylvania@gmail.com) to learn more or come to one of their meetings. They meet the third Tuesday of each month.

Are you a reader? Join our reading club at the Visitor Center while enjoying light refreshments. What is unique about our book club you ask? The book club has been designed for people who share similar interests in the environmental field and nature in general. As the year progresses we will be sharing books about our role in the environment and the effects that our globalized world has created upon younger generations.

04/22/2018 National Event  11:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Earth Day – From Trash to Treasure
Location: Visitor Center
Join us to celebrate Earth Day by creating crafts from recyclables goods. Come learn how to make a bird feeder, a basket to organize your room, a reusable shopping bag, and a cookie tray organizer from items found laying around at home. Simply bring your packaging boxes, old pillow cases, and old cookie trays. Lastly, for children we will have activity tables with fun upcycle crafts for all ages. 04/27/2018 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Homeschool Fridays
Location: Visitor Center
Join the fun, with a ranger, for an outdoor learning experience once a month. During these sessions, children will get the chance to learn material related to social sciences and environmental science. The activities have been designed to stimulate the development of cognitive, social, and critical thinking skills through various outdoor activities. Fee is $2 per child.
NOTE:The December meeting will be virtual and instructions will be provided at the November meeting.

Location: Visitors Center
Get ready to see nature like never before when you rent an Adventure Backpack from the Visitors Center! You can explore many different topics, like:

-Young Explorer

-Ponds and Streams
-Rocks and Fossils

Leesylvania State Park offers a variety of field trips that give students the opportunity to relate to and understand the natural world through inquiry-driven and hands on learning experiences.
