My family and I ran around the county two nights ago drinking hot cocoa and looking at lights for you guys.
It’s a hard job, y’all, but somebody’s got to do it. I developed a little loop of lights that I think you’ll really enjoy! If you’d like to add more, drop a comment with the address so that others can find it!
Here’s what I came up with!
You can run this loop in the direction that works best for your family, and you certainly don’t have to stop at CFA for Peppermint Milkshakes (#notsponsored) at the end, but we did! (Right next to this CFA is a drive-through 24 hour Starbucks, if you’d rather!) This layout takes you from Manassas to Woodbridge and back to Manassas, but you could definitely re-arrange the addresses to end up back in Woodbridge. Note that many of the large displays end their shows at 9:30pm.
1- BE CONSIDERATE OF TRAFFIC FLOW. Don’t stop your car in the middle of the street, and don’t park someone else in or block neighbor’s driveways.
2- DON’T BE A JERK. Don’t walk on the person’s lawn, or on their neighbor’s lawn, don’t touch anything, and certainly don’t take a souvenir.
3- LOOK BOTH WAYS. If you’re going to exit your car at night, be sure to hold young children’s hands and check for oncoming traffic when crossing the road.
4- BE KIND. These people aren’t getting paid for this, it’s just a fun thing they offer, so if their lights aren’t working one night or you don’t like something about their display, go ahead and keep those fussy thoughts in your own head, where they belong.
7308 Castle Rd, Manassas, VA 20109 (There are a few fun displays on your way down to this location, so go slow and enjoy!) Note from my kids: There is no Santa in the sleigh on the roof. We couldn’t figure out where he went.
10201 Winged Elm Cir, Manassas, VA 20110 (This neighborhood actually has several over-the-top displays, worth going down the loop to the end for. However, if you just do this address, be sure to catch the one on the opposite corner of Coffee Tree, too!)
5552 Reagon Court, Woodbridge, VA 22193 (Rowser, which you’ll have to drive down to get to Reagon, has a few cute displays, too- we liked the one on the corner of Roundtree and Rowser. When you get to the display on Reagon, note that the “bulb” of the court fills up quickly, and the lights are tied to the music, so if there’s a downbeat, you might think there aren’t any lights- just give it a second!)
4501 Evansdale Rd, Woodbridge, VA 22193 (You’re already there, anyway, so 4506 Evansdale is also worth a peek!)
15615 Bushey Dr, Woodbridge, VA 22193 (This is a drive-thru, so make sure to enter on the right, watch for the signals, and listen to the directions of the owners. They have a facebook page to make sure they are open in case of poor weather/visibility)
12635 Harbor Dr, Woodbridge, VA 22192
Smoketown Rd & Cavalier Dr, Occoquan, VA 22192 (This was our favorite when we lived in Lake Ridge because we passed it constantly!)
10516 Godwin Dr, Manassas, VA 20112 (So this is not the correct address- this is the address for Lucasville School, but the location is directly kiddie-corner from the school on Godwin (you can’t miss it) and I couldn’t see a street address from the car, so this is what you get! It’s on the intersection with Mayfield Trace.)
Chick-fil-A, 10677 Sudley Manor Dr, Manassas, VA 20109 or Starbucks 10683 Sudley Manor Dr, Manassas, VA 20109- but don’t let your husband go in without you or he’ll get you a small and get himself a large 😉
This loop took us about 2 hours and 20 minutes. I know that the map says 1 hour and 51 minutes, but stopping and taking pictures will take you a little longer, and at some of the locations, you might have to wait for a spot or to drive through.
(Bonus stops not on the map because it wouldn’t let me add more!)
Photo Drive Woodbridge (a few cute houses, this one is 13465)
