(All Day) - Online Creative Arts Contest @Chinn Park Library
Grades 6 - 12.

June 15 - September 14

Submit digital art, photography, poetry (no anthologies) or short stories. There will be prizes in each category for middle and high school students and a Grand Prize Winner!

Competition Rules:

Entries will be judged on creativity, originality, technique, presentation, and emotional impact.

All entries must be submitted by email to or by clicking on the submit button on the online form at

Only digital art will be accepted this year.

Competitors may submit a maximum of two entries.

Short Stories may be no longer than five pages.

Participants must be residents of Prince William County, Manassas, or Manassas Park.

The deadline for entries is Monday, September 14.

8:00 AM - Vertical Rocks Elevation Outdoor Camp
"ELEVATION" is a 5 day climbing camp that is a great way to get into the sport of outdoor rock climbing. Day campers will learn techniques, mechanics of rock climbing and an appreciation of the environment. The camp takes place at four different climbing areas: Carderock, Great Falls, Elizabeth Furnace and Vertical Rock. Campers will experience all 4 climbing areas and will also learn how to identify the types of rock, flora/fauna, and other awesome facts about the area they are climbing in! An emphasis on the "Leave No Trace and Minimizing Climbing Impacts" principle are integrated into the program.

Vertical Rock Gym’s Indoor Summer Climbing Camp. A Monday through Thursday half day indoor climbing camp for your climbers. (Ages 5-11). Kids will be introduced to age appropriate safety skills, workouts, and games while climbing and challenging themselves in our safe, supervised environment. Activities improve self-esteem, social skills, eye hand coordination, and kinesthetic development. Participants will be divided into age appropriate groups during the camp.

This 45 minute class allows our littlest climbers to get comfortable with climbing in a friendly and non-intimidating atmosphere. Parents are part of each class and are required to participate. This provides for an excellent opportunity to work with your child and to engage with them while they build comfort on the wall. The class focuses on helping children develop their fine and gross motor skills, while engaging in listening and speaking exercises.
