(All Day) - Creative Arts Contest @Chinn Park Library
Grades 6–12. Art in any medium, poetry or short stories. Prizes in each category for middle and high school students and a Grand Prize Winner! Competition Rules: Entries will be judged on creativity, originality, technique, presentation, and emotional impact. Written works must be submitted by email to: childrensservicescp@pwcgov.org or by clicking on the submit button on the webpage form. Only digital art will be accepted electronically. Competitors may submit a maximum of two entries. Short Stories may be no longer than 5 pages. Prizes will be awarded at the Creative Arts Showcase on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Chinn Park Regional Library. Participants must be residents of Prince William County, Manassas or Manassas Park. The deadline for entries is Friday, September 15, 2017.

All captains carry a Masters License. All USCG required safety items on board. Heated and a/c, bathroom, plenty of tables chairs and benches for your comfort Great sound system for your choice of CD's or your IPOD. ABC licensed to sell beer and wine, food available from local eateries or caterers or you can bring your own (the Captain really enjoys sampling your personally favorite dishes). Buy your tickets. Tours – Enjoy the scenery along the Occoquan River all year round. As the season changes then so does what you get to see. Eagles, ospreys, herons are just a few of the many bird types you will spot. New for 2015, tours have been extended to 90 minutes each. Regularly scheduled tours every Saturday at 11 am, 12:30pm, 2pm and 3:30pm. Sunday 3:30pm, 5pm and 6:30pm. Cost is $20 for adults, $8 for children 12-4 and under 4 is FREE. Discounts for groups of 10 or more. The captain will give local facts about history, real estate and many of the other boats. Water, soda and juice available. There is a bathroom on board. Weekday rides are readily available and encouraged but are by appointment only. Local senior groups have begun using the Miss Rivershore as a way to have a mid-week lunch with a 75-90 minute ride during the week. Food is catered to the boat by several local eateries at reasonable prices. The Blue Arbor Café in Occoquan (www.bluearborcafe.com) and Dixie Bones Bar-b-que in Woodbridge(www.dixiebones.com) just to name a few. These rides are priced at $25-$35 person including lunch and are done a reservation basis. During the Occoquan Craft Fair (www.occoquancraftshow.com) held the 1st weekend in June and the last weekend in September is a well known annual event in Occoquan. Parking can be had at the Occoquan Regional Park in Lorton and ride the Miss Rivershore to the fair.
