In recognition of America Recycles Day 2020, Prince William area residents can have recycling questions answered by experts. The Prince William County Solid Waste Division and community partner, Keep Prince William Beautiful (KPWB), will host this “wonky” event.
Join the Solid Waste Division staff and their Manassas, Manassas Park, Prince William County Schools and George Mason University area colleagues for an hour of questions and answers about recycling, sustainability and proper waste disposal.
Join the Ask the Recycling Wonk conversation on Friday, Nov. 13, at 3 p.m. on KPWB Facebook Live or Cisco Webex. Pressing questions like, “Can I place Styrofoam® in the recycling bin,” or “Should I throw away shredded paper,” and many others will be asked and answered. In addition to asking questions, area residents can find out about wishful recycling, contamination and why recycling is not the only way to help increase environmental sustainably.
All Prince William area residents are encouraged to take the annual America Recycles Day “I Recycle” pledge for an opportunity to win a $300 REI gift card, plus a $500 environmental grant for a local school, if the winner is in the kindergarten to grade 12.
Make pledges at www.mwcog.org/recyclesday no later than Nov. 20. The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments will announce the winner in December.
